Community Pharmacists are qualified healthcare professionals who can help you with minor health concerns. They can offer medical advice and over-the-counter medicines for a range of minor illnesses like coughs, colds, some stomach problems and aches and pains.
Community Pharmacists can also supply prescription-only medicines, including antibiotics and antivirals where clinically appropriate, to treat seven common health conditions without the need to visit a GP. The conditions covered are:
· Sinusitis (for patients aged 12 years and over only)
· Sore throat (aged 5+)
· Earache (aged 1 year-17)
· Infected insect bite (aged 1 year+)
· Impetigo (aged 18 years+)
· Shingles (aged 18 years+)
· Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (women aged 16 to 64)
Some pharmacies also offer services like Stop Smoking, contraception and vaccinations.
