GP Assistant – part-time to full-time posts at Beckington Family Practice
We have an exciting opportunity to join our existing practice teams. We are looking to recruit GPA support for the Beckington Family Practice, one of five practices that form Central Mendip PCN to work alongside and complement the existing teams of GPs, Nursing and Healthcare Teams.
Main duties of the job
A GPA will support the smooth running of GP clinics by performing the more routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the GP freeing up their time to focus on the patient. A full Job description & person specification is available here.
This role will include clinical aspects, such as phlebotomy.

- Advanced Care Practitioner

1. Beckington Family Practice is looking for a Permanent Advanced Care Practitioner for acute care for approximately 16 hours per week, including Wednesday and Friday.
We are currently looking for a hardworking, reliable person to join our team of clinicians to provide acute care appointments as an expansion to our existing team and as part of an ongoing programme of change to our on the day care provision.
We are a friendly, well established and growing semi-rural training practice based south of Bath, with an ethos for a high standard of patient care.
- GMS Practice list size 11,400
- Three partners, six salaried GPs, two ANPs
- Four First Contact Physiotherapists, two PCN Paramedics, Health Connector, Practice & PCN Pharmacist and two PCN Pharmacy Technicians
- Purpose built main surgery in Beckington, modern branch surgery in Frome Health Centre
- Dispensing at one site
- EMIS Web across both sites
- Training and Teaching Practice
Essential Qualifications:
- Current Registration – RGN BSc (Hons) or equivalent.
- have an active registration with the NMC or equivalent.
- Experience and qualifications in triaging urgent care requests and managing minor illness and injuries
- be educated to Masters level and to be an independent prescriber or have a clear plan for completing this
- practice within the four pillars
- meet revalidation requirements
Desirable qualities:
- Ability to work autonomously, although you will not be expected to work alone
- Enthusiasm for expanding and developing our service
- Willingness to engage with QOF data entry
