We are a dispensing practice.

Those patients who live more than one mile from a pharmacy and who have registered as dispensing patients may have their prescriptions made up immediately after seeing the doctor at Beckington surgery.

The dispensary will also accept repeat prescription requests.

For patients that pay for their prescription, please note that we accept Card, Cash or Cheque.

Dispensary Opening Hours

08:30 – 12:00 and 15:00 – 18:30 Monday to Friday.

The Dispensary will only take phone calls on 01373 867987 between 12:00 and 15:00, please do not phone at any other time.

Repeat prescription can be requested online via the link at the top of this page.

Please speak to the reception staff to register for this service.

Manual Repeat Requests

Repeat prescription can also be requested by marking your requirements on your itemised computer slip attached to your previous prescription. These can be handed in or posted to Beckington or Fromefield surgery.

For safety reasons, telephone requests are not accepted.

Please allow at least 3 working days for all repeat prescriptions.

Due to the current high workload, dispensing your medication will take longer than 3 working days, we apologise for any inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding at this time.

Additionally we offer services for requesting and collecting repeat prescriptions for residents of the following villages:

Freshford – The Galleries Shop at the Freshford Village Hall.

Routine repeat medication can be requested by posting your repeat medication slip into the secure posting box inside the shop during shop opening hours. Drop off prescription requests by 12:30 Tuesday and Friday.

Please allow sufficient time between posting your request and the time when you need your medication – a notice by the posting box will indicate the earliest date that medication will be available for collection.
PLEASE NOTE THIS NEW TIME CHANGE. Ordered repeat medication can be collected from a member of surgery staff at The Galleries Shop on Tuesdays and Fridays from 14:30 - 15:30  each week.

Norton St. Philip – Palairet Hall on a Tuesday morning between 09:15 and 09:30.

Rode – Village Hall on Tuesday afternoon between 14:00 and 14:15

Prescriptions will normally be available for collection at the surgery where they were requested, unless one of the alternative options is marked at the top of the repeat slip. At Fromefield, circling one of the listed Frome pharmacies will enable you to collect your medication directly from that pharmacy, but please allow an extra 1-2 days for this service.

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

• those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
• those who are age exempt
• those with certain medical conditions

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

• 3-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £30.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

NHS Precription Prepayment Card

Your doctor will advise how frequently you need to have a consultation to review medication that is on repeat prescription. The next review date can be found on your repeat slip and, after this date, further repeat prescriptions may not be issued until a review has been undertaken.

Medication reviews are necessary for the safe treatment of medical conditions.

Unwanted excess or expired medication should be safely disposed of by returning it to dispensary or your local pharmacy.
